Flavour Cravings

Yesterday, I don’t know where it came from, but suddenly I had a whiff of gingersnap cookies up my nose, and I was immediately returned to my childhood, dunking gingersnaps in my tea. Or “Dad’s” oatmeal chocolate chip, or regular chocolate chip. All of them, and a cup of tea, was the perfect afternoon snack. I don’t know where the smell came from, I was nowhere near the cookie plant, (we used to live close to it when I was a kid…still driving by in the summer time when you can smell all the cookies makes me want to eat them all!). But ever since, I’ve been craving gingersnap cookies Read More

Traveling

I like to travel as light as I possibly can, and didn’t now if there would be a fridge in the room, so didn’t want to bring anything that would spoil. Normally I stay away from packaged foods, but in this case, and for camping or backpacking, I do make an exception. Notice I said “packaged”, NOT “manufactured”! The foods I brought with me were all “real foods”, they just happened to come neatly packaged for convenience. Read More

The voices in our head

Some mornings, I’ll feel like ignoring the alarm, but I just can’t do it. I get dual voices in my head when I’m struggling to sit up. Craig Ballantyne, and George Bryant, the Civilized Caveman are both in there, Craig sayin’ “Sleeping in isn’t how you own the day!” and George sayin’ “you know you can lose 3 whole days every year, just by hitting snooze for 5 minutes each day!” And I’m up and at ‘em! I can’t argue with 3 lost days! What a waste that is! And I used to do that Every. Fucking. Day. Read More

Happy Victoria Day!

So, what’s the difference between beer, distilled alcohols and wines? Why is liquor ok, and beer isn’t? Beer is not distilled, it is brewed. The mash is made from barley, and/or rice, and then just left to sit and ferment in giant casks (or smaller carboys, if you’re a home brewer). Then the mash is filtered out during the bottling process. Unlike the distillation process, which is basically just vapour. Remember the sand in the kettle…Beer still contains gluten. Liquor does not. Wine is made from fruits, most often grapes. Fruits and grapes are naturally free of gluten. They all still have alcohol in them, and alcohol is basically a poison. Read More

New Stuff!

I’ve decided to offer the 5-Day Diet Detox as a one-on-one introductory programme, as well as a group programme when I have enough participants. The introductory programme is perfect for folks who may be a little intimidated by doing a full 12 session program. The one-on-one 5 day program will include 3-30 minute coaching calls, shopping guide, recipes for the full week, meal plans, as well as access to the private Facebook member’s group and email support between calls; all for only $157! The group programme will remain at $97 per person if there are 6 or more people to enroll, so grab a bunch of friends and you can all do it together! E-mail me to sign-up! rebecca@rebaweber.ca Read More

To Yoga Or Not To Yoga

When everyone in the room is all breathing, all moving and flowing, there’s a beauty to that, and I think on a sub-conscious level it is helpful to the psyche. The meditative effect is what helps us un-wind, relax, and find that place within ourselves that is peaceful and zen. Remember my tagline Healthy is contagious! There are health benefits to sharing your life with other people. Read More

Adventures with autoimmune disease

I looked down the one bluff that plummets quite far down toward the river. I figured I could get *down* there to retrieve some of the beer cans and whatnot, but getting back up again would have been a challenge, even for someone without stiffened hips and quads! The ground is just too soft on the ledge, with not much to grab onto to get back up. If I had had a friend with me, or a larger dog, I may have tried it, but Kreacher isn’t big enough to pull me back up. BOL! Read More

Catching Up

I’ve also been thinking up lots of new recipes to try out and add to my site. I think you will like them, as soon as I get to test them out a couple more times of course, and nobody dies! ???? I did release a new recipe for crackers exclusively to my newsletter subscribers last week. If you would like this new recipe, subscribe to my newsletter, and then send me an email to rebecca@rebaweber.ca to let me know you’ve subscribed then I will send it to you. To keep it exclusive to my subscribers, I won’t post it to my site for 3 months. That’ll give you all a chance to test it out and let me know what you think. I quite like it, as did my Mum. But we may be slightly biased. Read More

Nutrition Month, 2017

How do we get vitamins into our body? With food, right? So how is it that doctors don’t think that food has anything to do with chronic disease and our overall health? Would you rather take a handful of synthetic vitamin tablets every day, just to get your RDA, or would you rather eat real, healthy, nutrient dense foods that taste good and make you feel better, and can maybe even reverse your chronic disease?
