To Yoga Or Not To Yoga

When everyone in the room is all breathing, all moving and flowing, there’s a beauty to that, and I think on a sub-conscious level it is helpful to the psyche. The meditative effect is what helps us un-wind, relax, and find that place within ourselves that is peaceful and zen. Remember my tagline Healthy is contagious! There are health benefits to sharing your life with other people. Read More

Adventures with autoimmune disease

I looked down the one bluff that plummets quite far down toward the river. I figured I could get *down* there to retrieve some of the beer cans and whatnot, but getting back up again would have been a challenge, even for someone without stiffened hips and quads! The ground is just too soft on the ledge, with not much to grab onto to get back up. If I had had a friend with me, or a larger dog, I may have tried it, but Kreacher isn’t big enough to pull me back up. BOL! Read More

Catching Up

I’ve also been thinking up lots of new recipes to try out and add to my site. I think you will like them, as soon as I get to test them out a couple more times of course, and nobody dies! ???? I did release a new recipe for crackers exclusively to my newsletter subscribers last week. If you would like this new recipe, subscribe to my newsletter, and then send me an email to rebecca@rebaweber.ca to let me know you’ve subscribed then I will send it to you. To keep it exclusive to my subscribers, I won’t post it to my site for 3 months. That’ll give you all a chance to test it out and let me know what you think. I quite like it, as did my Mum. But we may be slightly biased. Read More

Nutrition Month, 2017

How do we get vitamins into our body? With food, right? So how is it that doctors don’t think that food has anything to do with chronic disease and our overall health? Would you rather take a handful of synthetic vitamin tablets every day, just to get your RDA, or would you rather eat real, healthy, nutrient dense foods that taste good and make you feel better, and can maybe even reverse your chronic disease? What is autoimmune disease?

Did you know that you could potentially have a disease for as many as 10 years before symptoms actually present themselves? This includes cancer! But the evidence will be in your blood looooong before symptoms persist or become a nuisance, they just not may be at a level where your doctor has been trained to say “yep, you have a disease, let’s fix that. Here take 2 cups of kale and a litre of bone broth every day with some kimchi and I won’t need to see you again.” This is my dream. Read More

Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month...and stuff...

I have redefined myself from somebody who was always in pain, whose doctors could never figure out what was wrong; to someone who has loads of energy, can run up and down stairs, take the dog for a walk in the freezing cold, do a pretty intense Turbulence Training workout, and still have energy to go wash dishes and cook dinner, all after a full day of work! Before I could barely rustle up enough energy to peel the film back on a microwave dinner and eat it. Read More

Heal your gut

As you know, I’m somewhat of a know-it-all when it comes to autoimmune disease. No, I’m not a doctor or a scientist, so sometimes the sciency bits of it will confound me, but I still like to geek out and read studies on PubMed. I also live with autoimmune disease myself, with celiac, psoriasis and Sjogren’s syndrome, plus having had Grave’s disease, now in remission. Plus, my day job is at a charitable foundation that raises money for research into type 1 diabetes, so you could say I live and breathe autoimmunity 24/7. Read More

The heartbreak of autoimmune disease

Some are parents, or grandparents, unable to go out and play with their kids or grandkids. All but one respondent commented how their perfect day would include just a simple pain free walk with their family. That’s all. We don’t want much. Just to be pain free, and to be able to spend some time with our families. Read More

Living with psoriasis

One day in particular sticks out in my head, I think I was in grade 8 at the time (so, 13 years old?), I was playing in a baseball tournament, my Catholic school against one of the public schools. At the time I was Catholic, I’ve since recovered ;) I was standing near the batter’s cage, I’d be up next. I was sweating, and the psoriasis on my head and down my back were itching like crazy! I had my hair up in a ponytail because it was so hot out, and someone said “eeeewwww what’s that rash all over you?!” Kids can be cruel! Read More
